FAQ

1) Are you fully insured/DBS checked?

Yes, we are insured with Pet Business Insurance Ltd and have a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.

2) What area do you cover?

Primarily Alsager in Cheshire, however surrounding areas may be considered. Please contact us to discuss your requirements. Additional costs outside of Alsager may apply.

3) How do we start using your services?

Following your initial contact to Active Tails by telephone, email, social media or website, we will send you a booking form to complete. Once agreed, we will arrange a meet and greet session and discuss your individual requirements. This is the perfect opportunity for you to see how we interact with your pet and to check that you feel comfortable and assured that your pet will be well looked after. A meet and greet is free of charge and should last no more than 30 minutes.

4) How many dogs are walked in a group walk?

We are insured to walk up to 4 dogs at any one time. Your dog needs to be friendly and sociable.

5) Will you walk my dog off lead?

This will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We will only walk a dog off lead if we have your consent, when we are confident of the dogs recall and the safety of the environment.

6) Would we take intact males/bitches in heat?

Currently we only offer group walks, therefore further assessments would need to be completed to determine the suitability of the intact male in the group. It may not be the most suitable environment for bitches in heat to take part in group walks, however, a solo walk could be considered in these circumstances. Please contact us to discuss further.

7) Will my pets need to be vaccinated?

We ask that you keep up to date with regular vaccinations, flea and worm treatments to ensure all pets are healthy. Kennel cough vaccination is recommended for dogs that attend group walks. We ask you to provide the dates of the most recent vaccinations on the booking form for all your pets.

8) What time would you collect/pickup my dog(s).

We are flexible in regard to pick up times. Group walks will generally be in the morning or the afternoon.

9) How will you transport my dog(s)?

We will walk where we can, but if we are far away from a safe walking place, we will transport each dog safely by car which has been fitted with dog seat belts and guard to keep them safe. If you prefer your pet to travel by cage/separate from other dogs, please let us know and we can discuss your requirements.

10) Will you provide me with updates about my pet?

Yes, you will be able to see regular updates on Active Trails social media with your consent and I can also provide you with an update and picture of your pet via WhatsApp or Messenger.

11) What will happen if it’s bad weather?

We will walk your dog(s) in any weather! However, services may be altered and could be cancelled in extreme weather circumstances in order to put the dog’s welfare first.

If you have any further questions, please get in touch.
